Teo Halm has officially arrived at Planet Hollywood Times Square in New York City on Tuesday afternoon (July 1).
The 15-year-old Earth To Echo actor made an in-store appearance to promote his new film, which hits theaters TOMORROW.
JJJ recently spoke with Teo about the film, aliens and taking over social media. Check out his interview below!
JJJ: Tell us about your Earth to Echo character, Alex. What are the biggest differences and similarities between you and him?
Teo Halm: Alex is a foster child and has lived a quiet suburban sheltered life. I’m boisterous and never stop talking. One thing thing Alex and I have in common is that we look a lot alike.
JJJ: How did you get involved with the film? What was your audition process like?
TH: The first audition was like any other audition although I went straight from camp at the beach and literally showered outside at the Beach. But the callback was insane as I was already at a family vacation in Spain and i had to make a tape for the director on my go-pro. Then the vacation moved to Morocco where my other mother’s family is from and we had to Skype under crazy circumstances with terrible wifi.

JJJ: What kind of preparations went into this role? Did you research aliens at all?
TH: I played Alex as a shy, introspective version of myself. I didn’t have to research because Alex was discovering things as he went along and I wanted that to seem organic.
JJJ: Speaking of aliens, do you have a favorite alien-related TV show or movie?
TH: I loved Independence Day and and of course Wall E and ET
JJJ: You get to work with a group of other young actors. Did you guys get a chance to bond before filming?
TH: Yes, we had a few weeks of rehearsals and the director took us out for dinner bowling and IFly at Citywalk so we could all bond. By the end we were just a bunch of goofy friends.
JJJ: The characters are really tech-savvy. What’s your go-to gadget?
TH: it is my iPhone actually and I am a crazy Instagrammer and a Viner and I love snap chat!
JJJ: You’re in James Franco’s upcoming film. What was it like working with him as a director?
TH: He was so awesome. I am a huge fan and he definitely directs from an actor’s perspective.
JJJ: What else is next for you? Any particular kind of role your seeking out?
TH: I would love to be in a super serious drama.
JJJ: Lastly, what do you like to do for fun?!
TH: Soccer, soccer and more soccer!
