James Patterson's 'Maximum Ride' Book Series Heads To YouTube

Looks like we’ll be getting that “Maximum Ride” movie…sort of.

The eight-book fantasy franchise — which the JJJ Book Club confesses is one of our faves — is going to a miniseries on YouTube, Variety reports.

Written by James Patterson, the “Maximum Ride” series centers on six kids who have been genetically modified to be 98% human and 2% bird – giving them wings and the power of flight. After they escape from the lab facility known as The School and are pursued by their former captors.

“‘Maximum Ride’ has a massive global fan base and it is very exciting to think about connecting with them online,” Mr. Patterson shared in a statement. “I’m confident that CDS will help introduce the book series to a completely new audience as well.”

A few years ago, Columbia Pictures had acquired the film rights before it shifted over to Universal Pictures. However, a Universal rep said “Maximum Ride” is no longer in development at the studio.

WHAT DO YOU THINK of “Maximum Ride” becoming a mini-series?
