'Teen Wolf' Interview: Dylan Sprayberry on Liam's Post-Bite Problems & Scott's Guilt

To say Dylan Sprayberry made quite the entrance in last week’s episode of Teen Wolf would certainly be an understatement.

Not only did the 16-year-old actor’s character Liam seemingly threaten Scott (Tyler Posey) and Stiles’ (Dylan O’Brien) position on the lacrosse team, but he wasted no time somehow finding himself amidst all the supernatural drama.

In fact, at the end of the episode – SPOILER ALERT! – Scott had no choice but to bite him to save his life! Which begs the question – is he a werewolf now?

JJJ caught up with Dylan, who was rather mum on the subject, but did shed some light on what we can expect from his…um, “change.” Check it out!

JustJaredJr.com: The end of last episode was pretty crazy. Where do we pick up this week?

Dylan Sprayberry: I can’t tell you too much, but there is a bit of a time jump. We don’t start off on the roof anymore. It’s the next day and it leads on from there to see what happens to me after the bite.

JJJ: We saw that Scott felt really guilty for hurting Liam’s leg. Now that he bit him, we’re guessing he’s feeling even worse. Will he stick by him?

DS: Oh yeah, Scott will definitely feel guilty because Scott’s that kind of guy. He’s a True Alpha. It means a lot in a person’s character and Scott definitely has a golden heart in terms of that. So he would definitely stick by me and help me with whatever he had to. He would never abandon anyone.

JJJ: Scott was warned not to bite any innocent people. Is he in trouble now?

DS: It’s definitely more with himself. He doesn’t know. Especially with breaking my leg during lacrosse. He doesn’t know what came over him, if it was his wolf powers or he was being selfish or what. It’s just a lot of reflection within himself, less so than getting in trouble with anyone else. He’s the Alpha, so he doesn’t really get in trouble with too many people.

JJJ: Even though we have our own theories of course, there are several different things that could happen to Liam now that he’s been bitten. Will we find out his fate pretty quickly?

DS: You’ll know in the next few episodes. It will kind of lead through, and we’ll see what happens.

JJJ: Scott runs with werewolves, a banshee, a kitsune, and a werecyote, among other things. Will Liam be accepted into their group of friends?

DS: Liam, he starts off being a threat to Scott and Stiles. He’s on the opposite side of who they are and then he gets bit, but he’s still an outsider. He gets introduced to everyone. He meets everyone through time, but he still seems like an outsider.

JJJ: There’s still a lot of mystery surrounding Liam. We don’t know that much about him. Will we learn more soon?

DS: Yeah, even in this next episode, you’ll get to learn about my character and who he is, his background.

JJJ: We do know he’s a stellar lacrosse player. Had you played before?

DS: Oh yeah, a lot of preparation because I had no idea how to play. I worked with one of the head coaches from Harvard-Westlake, which is a really great school from lacrosse. He was great and taught me a lot. And Mason Dye and I, every time we could, we’d put on our gear and go to the field. We would play at lunch and practice, that way it looked like we knew what we were doing in the epsiodes.

JJJ: Will we see Liam interact with Mason’s character more as well?

DS: You get introduced to Mason’s character Garrett and Samantha [Logan]‘s character Violet. And obviously, Khylin Rhambo’s character Mason, which I think is confusing (laughs). But you get to see all of them and I interact. You get introduced to who they are. They are bringing these new characters in. It’s almost like recruiting.

JJJ: Right! It’s like Teen Wolf: The New Class! So last question – if you could give your character any piece of advice right now, what would it be?

DS: It’s definietly hard for me to give him advice because I have no idea what it’s like to be bitten by a werewolf, but the only thing I’d say is, “Don’t let it get to you.” I don’t think I’d be able to give him advice because it’s on a different level of problems (laughs).
