Newcomer Neel Sethi To Play The Jungle Book's Mowgli

Cutie Neel Sethi just scored the gig of a lifetime — he’s going to play Mowgli in the upcoming adaption of The Jungle Book!

The role is the 10-year-old actor’s first job!

“Casting is the most important element of any film and finding the right kid to play Mowgli was imperative,” director Jon Favreau shared in a statement. “Neel has tremendous talent and charisma. There is a lot riding on his little shoulders and I’m confident he can handle it.”

Casting director Sarah Finn added, “Neel embodies the heart, humor, and daring of the character. He’s warm and accessible, yet also has an intelligence well beyond his years and impressed us all with his ability to hold his own in any situation. Even though he has no professional acting experience, his natural charisma and instincts jumped out at us.”

The only actor on screen, Neel also joins Sir Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson and Idris Elba as the voices of Mowgli’s jungle friends and foes.

The Jungle Book is out on October 9th, 2015.
