Is Jenna Coleman Leaving 'Doctor Who'?

Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi check out the skyline from the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center in New York City on Friday evening (August 15).

The two Doctor Who stars brought the new season, plus a Cyberman, to the Big Apple ahead of the premiere this coming weekend on BBC America, before heading to Mexico City.

Rumor has it (via The Mirror) that Jenna could be leaving the popular program by Christmas!

The paper, from sources, say that talks have started to take place about her exit, but nothing has been confirmed just yet.

“They’re great friends and all that but she has to be his human interface with everybody else,” show runner Steven Moffatt recently shared about the duo’s relationship this season. “One of the watchwords we have this year is there are consequences for choosing to live like this. It’s not a fairy-tale – we want to make it feel that these adventures can hurt.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK about Jenna leaving the program? Will you miss Clara?

What is the fascination with paring white girls with black men on this show? It worked with Billie Piper and Noel Clarke, but doing it again seems a bit like they’re grasping for demographics. He’s a nice guy and all, but I don’t get it. And I can’t help but notice that they are hinting at introducing a black Susan Foreman. Um, OK, but shows usually don’t start doing this sort of stuff unless they really, really need an audience. I’m sure that Moffat will make a really good story line out of this, but, I really hope that this is not the beginning of the end of my Doctor Who.

OK, on the other hand, the times they’ve paired white girls with white men the dynamics haven’t worked out so well. So, maybe Moffat has it sorted, after all. In any case, I love the show – since about 1984.
