The JJJ Book Club was kind of shocked when the Riverside School District in California banned “The Fault In Our Stars” from their middle schools.
The book was banned after a few parents complaint about the story which “challenged the teen love story as inappropriate for that age group” and the district agreed with them, pulling copies from middle school shelves.
“I guess I am both happy and sad,” author John Green wrote on his Tumblr about the decision. “I am happy because apparently young people in Riverside, California will never witness or experience mortality since they won’t be reading my book, which is great for them.
He added, “But I am also sad because I was really hoping I would be able to introduce the idea that human beings die to the children of Riverside, California and thereby crush their dreams of immortality.”
