Huge congratulations to Malala Yousafzai!
The 17-year-old activist was just announced as one of the winners for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize, along with Kailash Satyarthi.
She “has already fought for several years for the right of girls to education and has shown by example that children and young people, too, can contribute to improving their own situations,” Mr. Jagland, the committee’s spokesperson, said. “This she has done under the most dangerous circumstances. Through her heroic struggle, she has become a leading spokesperson for girls’ rights to education.”
Malala is the youngest recipient of the prize and will share the $1.1 million prize with Mr. Satyarthi.
