Laura Carmichael Says Downton Abbey's Edith Was 'The Ugly One'

The 28-year-old Downton Abbey actress recently chatted with Radio Times and opened up about how her character, Lady Edith, was perceived by fans early on.

“It was really funny opening the newspaper and reading the reviews and going, ‘Oh, I’m playing the ugly one.’ I hadn’t thought of that,” she explained.

Laura added about how her real life is opposite, “I have so many amazing opportunities I go ‘Is it really fair?’ And sometimes it’s embarrassing I get so many treats.”
