Vanessa Marano Says She's 'Very Talented At Arguing' To 'Next Big Thing' Mag

Vanessa Marano looks lovely on the November 2014 cover of Canada’s Next Big Thing magazine.

The 21-year-old actress chatted with the glossy about Switched At Birth, sign language and her choice not to be on every social network. Check it:

On the benefits of not being online: “I actually have this weird freeing thing [because] I don’t see what people are saying online. You can judge the work independently and you’re free from people telling you what they feel about it. You get into a situation where you meet someone randomly on the street and you get to make eye contact with that person, actually see their facial reaction and speak to them [face to face]. I think that means so much more when it’s not belittled by the fact that you can constantly try to get someone’s attention online.”

On knowing sign language and Italian: “It’s such a great tool to tell secrets with. I understand Italia better than I can speak it, but with sign language I speak it better than I understand it…it’s actually very, very weird in that way. Sign language has weirdly helping my Italian and hindered it at the same time because they’re so similar but so different.”

On what she’s really talented at: “The writers like to use stuff that the actors can do in the show. They’ve had Lucas [Grabeel] and Lea [Thompson] sing, they’ve had Lea, Marley [Matlin] and Gilles [Marini] dance, they’ve had Katie [Leclerc] play basketball and they quickly discovered with me that I literally can’t do anything else but act. I’m really good at arguing, that’s something that I am very talented at.”
