Jason Brown: Get To Know The 2015 Figure Skating Champ With Five Fun Facts

Jason Brown just won the Men’s 2015 U.S. National Figure Skating Championship title over the weekend and JJJ could not be more excited!

The 20-year-old skater has been one of our faves since last year when he burst onto the scene with his incredible “Riverdance” program.

“I’m so overwhelmed right now, so excited,” Jason shared with press after claiming the title. “It’s been such a journey from four years ago [finishing ninth at age 16 in his senior nationals debut, also in Greensboro] to now.”

He added, “I was performing to the audience and enjoying every single moment. I couldn’t ask for anything else.”

1. He’s the middle child and is currently attending University of Colorado Colorado Springs.

2. His ponytail has it’s own Twitter account!

It’s true.

Jason shared of his mane last year and how to get it, “I start off with mousse, I do mousse all over my head. Then I do the part, whether it’s straight back or a middle part, and then once that’s done, I put it back in the ponytail. The longest part is getting the part right. Once the part’s done, it’s smooth sailing. Until then, it’s stressful.”

But it’s not over — “Then I do mousse more time all over my head, and then again just in the part. Then I use hairspray and gel, and then I do the same thing to the ponytail. Finally, I do a little hair glue, then I use hairspray all over to set it, and then I’m done.”

3. He went to the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics

After placing second at Nationals last year, Jason was named to the U.S. Olympic Team with Jeremy Abbott. At the Olympics, he placed 6th.

4. His Instagram Will Warm Your Heart

We love Jason’s Instagram account. It gives us warm fuzzies all over the place. Check out pics from it, below!

Jason’s coach, Kori Ade, was awarded the USG Building Dreams Award last year.

She’s kind of amazing, which is why she won the award, that recognizes a person, team or community who helped an athlete achieve greatness. Kori, who’s been Jason’s coach for 14 years, has never missed one of his performances, and together they’ve completed 14 international trips and won many junior, national and international titles. She even moved her family to better meet Jason’s training requirements. Amazing!
