The 24-year-old actress opened up about leaving her character in Happyland behind and looking forward to The DUFF. Check it:

On how she bonded with Lucy: “I loved how the constant lessons for Lucy were to just be your age and live your life. Like go crush on that guy, yeah you like him, go kiss him or go have fun. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s me. I’m Lucy’.”

On The DUFF: “We touch a lot of different aspects, some of them are self-esteem. Obviously ‘designated ugly fat friend’ is something that hits people and they have an immediate reaction to. Essentially what we are trying to get across in the movie is that everyone has labels. It’s up to you what you choose to do with it. I don’t think people realize the power it has over kids, teens and adults. I don’t care if it’s over the Internet. I don’t care if it’s in your face. Everything hurts.”
