Raven Symone Clarifies Her 'I'm Not African American' Comments

Raven Symone waves to fans outside the ABC Studios in New York City on Thursday morning (March 19).

The 29-year-old actress has been guest hosting The View this week.

Recently speaking with EOnline, Raven clarified her ‘I’m Not African American’ comments she said while on Where Are They Now? back in 2013.

“I never said I wasn’t black,” Raven said. “I said I wasn’t African American and to me, that’s a difference.”

She added, “We are a melting pot of beauty. We have to embrace the different cultures we have. And if you don’t, we’re still gonna have these problems that are blasting up everywhere. And call me hippy, call me a free-thinker, call me someone that’s looking for a better life but I wanna be in a better world.”
