Meryl Davis is Excited to See Her 'DWTS' Family During Anniversary Special (Exclusive Interview!)

Tonight marks the highly-anticipated Dancing With The Stars 10th Anniversary Special and JJJ couldn’t be more excited for it!

We exclusively spoke with Meryl Davis, the winner of Season 18, about returning for the special, what being on the show meant to her, and more. Check it:

JustJaredJr.com: What were some of your favorite moments on the show?

It’s so tough to pick! From rehearsals to the energy surrounding the set on show days, what an incredible experience overall! Still, I think my favorite memories are of performing on Monday nights. One of the happy similarities between skating and dancing is the ability to express one’s self. Movement, costuming and beautiful music are all a part of creating moments and I certainly loved my opportunity to do that on such an incredible show.

JJJ: Can you pick your favorite dance?

MD: I think my favorite dance at the time had to be our freestyle; I really felt like the dance was a culmination of our journey on the show and was very special to perform. In retrospect, I’ve gained new appreciation for some of our other dances as we’ve revisited them for other performances. Our foxtrot, rumba and tangos stand out to me.

JJJ: What has the show meant to you?

MD: The show was an experience unlike any other. I really had the time of my life being a part of season 18 and felt as though I learned a lot about myself throughout the course of the season. After talking to a lot of the other former contestants who returned for the 10th anniversary special, I know I’m not alone in having enjoyed the experience so much.

JJJ: Looking back, what made you want to join in the first place?

MD: I believe Charlie [White] and I received our offer to do the show the day after our win in Sochi. We’d just achieved a dream that had been years in the making and it was time for a major dance party!

JJJ: What’s one thing that you would want to say to your partner now?

MD: Well, Maks [Chmerkovskiy] and I have stayed good friends so I don’t feel like there’s really anything unsaid. I think a big ‘thank you’ for making my experience so memorable comes up in conversation often.

JJJ: If you could do it all again, would you?

MD: I feel like our season felt so complete and like that chapter ended so beautifully. Of course, I am always thrilled to return to the show and love being a part of the Dancing with the Stars family anytime I get the chance.

JJJ: Are you watching the show now? Who are you rooting for?

MD: I’m on the road so much that I often have to YouTube people’s dances a few days after they air. I’m pretty torn at the moment as I’m really enjoying several teams. Being friends with so many people on the show makes it tough to make a call, too!

JJJ: What are you most excited about for the anniversary special?

MD: The show really does feel like a family. Returning to the ballroom and seeing people I’d become close with was fun, but I also loved seeing contestants and pros I hadn’t met before. Much like the Olympic family, you don’t have to know people within the family to feel connected in a special way.
