Carly Rae Jepsen Says Tom Hanks' Video Cameo Was a 'Miracle'
Carly Rae Jepsen waves to fans as she stops the NRJ Radio Studios on Monday afternoon (June 1) in Paris, France.
The 29-year-old singer recently opened up about how she got Tom Hanks in her “I Really Like You” music video.
“I don’t know, it was a miracle,” Carly said. “We [manager Scooter Braun] just ended up looking through all these different treatments for the video and I wasn’t finding anything that I loved. I felt that the song is so sweet that having a really sweet video on top of it would be gag-worthy. I wanted it to be something funny.”
Carly continued, “We came up with the idea of having a really unexpected lead male character sing the song instead of me, in a very dry and serious kind of way. Scooter had just had dinner with Tom Hanks telling him how I had a list of people that I had been politely stalking and Tom was just like ‘You should have asked me.’”
