Meryl Davis Gushes About 'Sway': 'It's Addicting'

There’s just one more day until the opening of Sway, A Dance Trilogy at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

Meryl Davis recently opened up about re-joining the show, where she’ll be doing more than just the two numbers with her Dancing With The Stars pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy this time around.

“Being on stage is an incredible experience. I’ve really only danced in a theater setting once, and that was the last time I did Sway (last December). It’s addicting. Really, what I love most about skating is the ability to perform and express yourself, so getting to do that in another setting, in a different way, is super exciting for me,” she shared. “I love being part of such an energetic, creative group of people. Getting to spend some time in New York and being a part of this production is an honor. It’s kind of surreal.”

Serge Onik, who trained alongside Maks and Val, shared about the show, “Everyone that’s part of the show is family, so you get to really feel that love and passion and true vibe that we create together when we’re performing. There’s a lack of words that explain how amazing Meryl is.”

Meryl added, “Learning the dances and different styles has really opened up my eyes creatively. Watching all the professionals on DWTS and their approach to creativity and making something special and making these moments on the dance floor has enhanced my understanding and appreciation for the different ways to express yourself.”

Sway, A Dance Trilogy opens TOMORROW, June 5th in New York City.

Meryl is CLASSY,INTELLIGENT, MODEST and STRONG. At times I wonder if she really knows how strong she is. I am close to seventy and what I like mostly about Meryl is not being distracted by some unpalatable comments but staying true to her calling,BEING KIND. She is a good role model and I pray she goes a long way.

I think Meryl is a great role model for the young girls in the world. My daughter and I met her at a meet and greet aftter a Stars On Ice performance. Meryl was very sweet to her and I felt her to be very genuine. My daughter was over the moon for weeks afterward. I think it is great that she is expanding her talent to dancing. She and Maks are a very talented dance couple.

Met Meryl & Charlie at a Stars on Ice Meet & Greet. They are the most genuine, down to earth, nicest people! We were already in love with their artistry on the ice, & then fell in love with them even more after meeting them! :)

IMO, Meryl was the biggest ringer DWTS has ever had. While ice dancing is not the same as dancing on wood, there are a lot of similarities. It’s not like she started from scratch, like a lot of contestants on there do. That is not taking away from her beautiful dancing or winning the MBT, I think that it was well deserved. Just saying, I don’t think it was too difficult for her to learn it. She has accomplished more at 27 than I did, so I probably have no room to talk. LOL!

The biggest ringer? Hardly! In fact, not even close. You want ringers? How about those who participated who were professional dancers, like Corin Bleu, Sabrina Bryan and Nicole Scherzinger. You do know that Jennifer Grey trained in dancing at Juliard, don’t you? I think you also need to include Kristy Yamaguchi, Lysacek, Shawn Johnson, and Ally Raisman, who by virtue of their Olympic events, could be said to have a tremendous advantage in dancing. And aren’t you forgetting Meryl’s partner, Charlie? Why was she a ringer but not him? Now, what was that you were saying again?

So Happy Meryl & Maks continue to dance together! Love that Val & Rumer are also dancing together after DWTS. Amazing talents!
