'Best Friends Whenever' Star Lauren Taylor Would Love To Time Travel To The 1600s!

Who’s ready for the premiere of Best Friends Whenever TONIGHT on Disney Channel?!

JJJ caught up with star Lauren Taylor, who plays Shelby in the new series, and got the scoop on the show, her character and more. Check it out below!

JJJ: How did you get involved in this show?
Lauren Taylor: Landry [Bender] and I had worked together previously on another project and we had such great chemistry that Disney Channel wanted to do something special with it!

JJJ: What was your audition process like??
LT: Landry and I went in together and we read for our characters probably 5 different times! Eventually, we were cast and started right away!

JJJ: Tell us about your character Shelby. Do you share any similarities or are you completely different??-
LT: Shelby is a smart, determined girl who always wants the best for everyone around her. She tends to be a little high strung, but, overall, is so amazing! I hope I share similarities with Shelby! I think she’s so inspiring. I think we’re quite alike, except I am a little more laid back.

JJJ: If you had the power to time-jump, where would you go and why??
LT: I’m a total history geek, so I’ve thought about this a lot! I’d like to travel to either medieval times, the 1600s, the 1920s, the 1950s, or the 1980s. I absolutely adore everything about each of those eras! The music, the fashion, the history!

JJJ: You of course spend a lot of time working with Landry. Did you guys know each other before the show or get to bond before filming at all??
LT: Like I mentioned before, we had worked together, so we had spent a ton of time together!

JJJ: Who would you say you’re closest to on set??
LT: Honestly, everyone on the set is so close! The cast, crew, writers, and producers are so bonded! Being on set is being surrounded by warm, open friends. It’s so special.

JJJ: What’s been your most memorable moment with the cast so far??
LT: Our set is one constant joke-fest and it’s so difficult to pinpoint just one moment, but we’ve had a lot of really fun times playing heads up together on breaks!

JJJ: How do you balance school and work??
LT: It’s not very easy, but I love both my school and my job, so I find time to make them both work.

JJJ: What do you like to do for fun when you’re off work??
LT: I love to play guitar, sing, go to the beach, hang out with my friends, and read really good books!

JJJ: Do you have fun plans to watch the premiere?
LT: The whole cast is getting together to watch the premiere on Friday after work! We’re all going to sit down around a TV, eat snacks, and turn on Disney Channel!
