Demi Lovato Is 'No Longer Being Serious' In Her Music; She's A 'Completely New Demi'

Demi Lovato just dropped her new track, “Cool For The Summer”, today and is opening up about the change in her music.

“It’s like I’ve spent so long just kind of people-pleasing, making everybody happy with being the best role model I can be,” the 22-year-old singer shared with On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

Demi added, “At the end of the day, yes, I am outspoken about the things I believe in: Mental health advocacy work. I have a charity. I have these things that make me a role model. But, at the same time, none of these things are really representing the badass that I am.”

She continued, “There’s a side of [me] that people don’t get to see with my past music, but it’s been there. That’s what this album is: I’m no longer serious. I’m done with like the sob stories and the tales. New chapter, new life, new album, new single. This is a completely new Demi.”

Honestly I truly haven’t looked at Demi in a couple of months. I love her album, Demi, and everything she did before that. But her new single, huh, it’s not her vibe. It doesn’t seem like her. She always sang good well thought out lyrics. And honestly she used the word, f***, like it didn’t matter. Taylor Swift just started saying damn and it’s been almost 10 years since she started singing. To go right to the biggest and rudest curse word in the book, for Demi, is mind blowing. She used to be an idol for me. She has changed completely and she lost a fan. I hope she knows that
