Thomas Mann Likes That There's No 'Romantic Aspect' To 'Me & Earl & The Dying Girl'

Thomas Mann is chatting up his new flick, Me and Earl and The Dying Girl, in his new interview with Teen Vogue.

“The core of the movie is this reluctant friendship that forms among three people,” the 23-year-old actor shared. “I don’t want people to go into it thinking, OK, get ready to cry. That sells the film short. It’s very funny!”

But what he really likes about the movie is that it’s about friendship over love.

“The dialogue was sort of messy, but so comical and rich,” Thomas said. “I like that there’s no romantic aspect. You could even say that they’re in love, but it’s a deeper, complex, respectful kind of love that’s more interesting than crushing on each other.”

Me and Earl and The Dying Girl is out in theaters NOW.
