Taylor Swift gave an extremely emotional speech before segueing into her song “Ronan” during her concert on Monday (August 17) in Glendale, Ariz.
The 25-year-old entertainer wrote the song for Ronan Thompson, who passed away from cancer in 2011. Ronan‘s mother Maya was in the audience of the concert that evening, and Taylor has only played “Ronan” once before live, during 2012′s Stand Up to Cancer broadcast.
Maya is credited as a co-writer on the song, as her blog entries about Ronan‘s disease went into creating the lyrics.
