Bindi Irwin stops to pose as she makes an appearance on Good Morning America on Monday (August 24) in New York City.
The 17-year-old wildlife activist was announced as the first official competitor for the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars.
“I feel truly blessed to be embarking on this brand new journey with @DancingABC and can’t wait to learn & grow and share it with you x,” she tweeted.
So let’s get to know Bindi more! Here are five fast facts to know:
1. Her favorite animal is the Echidna
“Though they are not the cuddliest animals in the world I love them so much because they are sweet and cute. Did you know Echidnas have a 17cm long tongue? It is also one of only two Monotremes � which are egg laying mammals,” she once told JJJ.
2. Her best friend is actress Tiffany Espensen from Kirby Buckets!
The two met on the set of Nickelodeon’s Bucket & Skinner’s Epic Adventures where Bindi was a guest star. Unfortunately, the episode never aired.
3. She’s an established author.
She’s written over 20 books for the “Wildlife Adventure” series!
4. Bindi is training in MMA.
Did we mention she also has an orange belt in Jujitsu?!
5. She’s all about giving.
Bindi gives 10% of her earned wages at the Australia Zoo to Wildlife Warriors, a charity founded by her family in 2002.
