The two faces of Ralph Lauren’s Denim & Supply campaign opened up about their passion for music with the glossy. Check it:
Cody on leaving the major record label behind: “When you’re so young on a major label, it’s like, ‘Do this! Do that! Make this kind of music!’ I had no idea what I wanted to do. Free reflects my process of discovering independence.”
Tinashe on her music: “I have so much more to offer than being a copy of someone else…It’s been a learning process. When I was making Aquarius, some people didn’t respect my opinions. I think it was a combination of me being young, a new artist, and a woman. But you can’t allow other people to dictate your creative perspective.”
Cody on his relationship with Gigi Hadid: “It was getting so celebrity-oriented that it was kind of scary,” he says of their heavily paparazzied relationship. “But I’ll always have the craziest respect for her. Even if you absolutely adore someone, it doesn’t mean they’re right for you at that time in your life. Being single is amazing for me right now. I can focus on peeling back the layers and self-growth.”
