Kendrick Sampson Loved Co-Star Viola Davis' 'Monumental' Emmy Speech

Kendrick Sampson looks super sharp while attending the VH1 Big in 2015 With Entertainment Weekly Awards held at Pacific Design Center on Sunday (November 15) in West Hollywood, Calif.

The How to Get Away With Murder star was joined by Faking It‘s Katie Stevens, Vampire Diaries actress Jodi Lyn O’Keefe, and singer Elle King.

“I feel privileged and grateful,” Kendrick recently told MTV about working with Viola Davis. “I loved her Emmy‘s speech. I don’t think people realize how monumental that was� they know that a black woman winning Lead Actress in a Television Series is a big deal, but I don’t think people take into account that she’s not only a black woman, but a dark-skinned black woman, with beautiful black features. She’s not a European version of what people think is beautiful. She is a beautiful black woman – middle aged, sexualized, powerful, educated� that’s just something that you don’t see on TV that much, and you don’t see it as the lead, ever.”
