“Working on set was awesome, it was basically working with my best friend,” Spencer told JJJ about the role. “I wouldn’t even call it working because in between takes and rehearsals we would joke around and it just made me feel at home. Peyton would also help me memorize lines over and over, gotta give her a shout out to her for that because it was a lot of work. I appreciate it PEY! Not to mention we hang out with Kevin [Quinn], Cameron [Boyce], Karan [Brar] and Miranda [May] off set so it just felt like one big happy family.”
He continued about how he score the part, “One of the writers, Adam Lapidus said, ‘I have a perfect role for you in the next episode. It’s exactly like you, a big tall jerk you’ll nail it!’ Just kidding, he didn’t say that. I’m not a jerk. Well, I hope I’m not. So a couple of minutes later they said I should audition for the part on Monday. The problem was I was leaving for London the next day so I wouldn’t be here for the audition.”
“Adam is the best, as are all of the other writers. They said they weren’t sure they were going to audition a whole bunch of other kids. So I got to London anxiously waiting and thinking about it. Thinking in my head, ‘Oh I could’ve done that line differently’ or ‘I could’ve been more mean with that.’ On my second to last day in London, I got a call from my agent saying that the role was mine and I instantly hugged Peyton. It was a twin moment.”
