Alessia Cara Isn't Promising Her Fans Anything About Being A Role Model
Alessia Cara walks with her team to Jimmy Kimmel Live in Hollywood on Wednesday (February 10).
The 19-year-old “Here” singer recently spoke with Radio.com about taking on the title of role model for her fans.
“Well, going into this I never thought, ‘I’m gonna be a role model.’ Because I’m so young, and a lot of people that listen to my music are the same age as me, so it’s hard for me to grasp the idea of guiding somebody through life when I’m at the same phase of life as them, or some of them are older than me, so they could probably teach me more about life,” she shared.
Alessia continued, “But I think at the same time if I can be somebody who people can relate to, and if I can change their perspective on things, whether they’re older than me or younger than me or the same age, really, if I can change their perspective or make them appreciate themselves more with my music, I guess yeah. I guess you’re inevitably gonna become a role model when you have relatable music.”
“And so I’ll gladly accept that title, I’m just not promising anything. I’m trying to be good, and I know I’m gonna be good, but of course, I’m not perfect,” she added.
