Olivia Holt Is Neutrogena's New Brand Ambassador!

Congrats to Olivia Holt!

The 18-year-old actress and singer was just announced as the new brand ambassador for Neutrogena and joins Kerry Washington, Kristen Bell, Julie Bowen and Bella Thorne in the family.

JJJ had the chance to speak with Olivia about her new gig before this morning’s announcement and got the scoop on her beauty routine, being a part of the Neutrogena family and her music! Check it:

JJJ: What does it feel like to be part of the Neutrogena brand? Where were you when you found out that you were the new Neutrogena ambassador?
Olivia Holt
: I was on a movie set when I found out…so I had to be quiet. Which is the worst, because you’re excited and you want to be loud and jump up and down but they were in between scenes [on set] so…everyone was moving around and it was hush hush. I had gotten a call and I was like ‘Oh my gosh…this is so exciting’…’You don’t sound excited’…’No, I’m really excited. I just can’t be loud’. Then when I got off the phone and got home, I had time to celebrate then.

It’s fun, it’s exciting. I grew up using their products and I’m such a fan, as well as my family. It’s just kind of surreal. I’m really thrilled to be part of the Neutrogena family.

JJJ: How do you feel about being a part of the See What’s Possible campaign?
OH
: Being a part of Neutrogena’s ‘See What’s Possible’ campaign with Kerry Washington and Jennifer Garner, it’s unreal. Being grouped with women like that who are so positive and confident, who encourage other women to be who they are, who inspire women…inspire people like me; it really is an honor and I’m really thrilled to be a part of this family with them.

JJJ: What advice would you give to girls about following your dreams?
OH
: My advice for other young girls pursuing their dreams is to go for it and to not give up. I think that’s one thing that a lot of girls struggle with is not really knowing where they want to go or what they want to do but as long as they have that clear vision, they should just do it and not let anybody stop them.

JJJ: Tell us about Neutrogena’s partnership with Girls, Inc.
OH
: I’m excited about it. It’s important for girls to go out there and follow their dreams, to never give up and to just enjoy what they’re doing. That’s always been really important to me and still is to this day.

JJJ: Are/Were you nervous to shoot your commercial at all – especially with the water splashes!?
OH
: I was definitely nervous. From the first day of finding out that I was going to be a part of this team, I think I was nervous from that day. [The shoot] went really well. As soon as I stepped on set, it felt so welcoming and so inviting and that washed away all the nerves. I feel really good about it [the commercial] and I’m really happy with it…then more nerves [laughs].

JJJ: Had you always been a fan of the brand? What are some of your favorite products?
OH
: I’ve always been a fan of the brand. They’ve helped me through my teen years when I’ve had any time of situation on my face; any type of breakout. I would freak out and I would need something and I would go straight to Neutrogena because their products always work. I’ve always seen such a huge difference, especially with the stubborn acne mask. I use it daily and I never have to rinse it off. I don’t have to worry about it. I just leave it on and go about my day.

JJJ: What’s the worst beauty advice you’ve ever gotten?
OH
: The worst beauty advice I’ve ever gotten was to get bangs. Not that they don’t work on other people, but not me. I had straight across bangs when I was in junior high and…it wasn’t a good look. No way. I look back on those photos and I just cringe every time I see them. Just thinking about it, it was no good. I know that I will never go back to bangs

JJJ: What’s your beauty routine like?
OH
: I have super dry and sensitive skin, so for me, it’s really important to always moisturize. Especially after a long day of working and the grooming crew have been touching me up all day long and I have all this makeup on my face. The last thing I want to do is go home and get ready for bed, so what I usually do is keep the Neutrogena wipes in my car and I always just wipe it all off. When I get home, I do a bit more of my nightly routine and go to bed. It’s so easy and it’s so simple. It just takes that two minutes.

It’s always important to wear SPF and to hydrate, just because I have that type of skin that doesn’t do well when I don’t to that stuff.

JJJ: Is there something you’d tell your younger self about beauty or makeup?
OH
: I would’ve told my younger self a lot about beauty and makeup. I don’t think I had any idea what to do. I missed the whole mother teach daughter, or older sister teaching younger sister how to put on makeup or how to wear it; I missed that entire step. I kind of learned on my own.

I think for me, growing up I was surrounded by all these girl who were wearing makeup and I would look at them for inspiration for how to wear it and what to do with it and…I just never did a good job at matching what they did. I wore a lot of it too, and I wish I could tell myself that at that age, you don’t need to wear a lot of it. As I get older, I can find new tricks of how to wear it. Looking back, I wish I hadn’t worn as much makeup as I did. I wish I kind of took my time and learned how to properly wear and apply it, instead of just winging it.

JJJ: Spring is coming. How do you transition from a winter regimen to a spring one, or do you?
OH
: How I transition from a winter to spring look is going a little bit lighter – whether that’s on the cheeks or on the lips. Just broadening the colors into a natural sunkissed look it’s always the way to go when you’re transitioning from cold winter nights to fun spring days.

JJJ: Are there any trends you’ve seen that you’re dying to try out?
OH
: I’m ready to try out more florals and light colors because if the sun is out, you’ve gotta look bright too.

JJJ: What can you tell us about all your upcoming projects?
OH
: Right now, I’m finishing up my first record with Hollywood Records. It’s really exciting. Music has been a part of my life for such a long time and now I’m actually getting the opportunity to share it with everybody.

I also have films in the works. I’m stepping away from sitcoms for a little bit and jumping into the film world is so new and exciting and it’s a new adjustment and I’ve been enjoying that element of it all. Everything has been so much fun and I’ve been embracing it every single day.

JJJ: Tell us EVERYTHING about your music. We’re anxious over here!
OH
: I’m super pumped. I have a single coming out. We’re brainstorming music video ideas. It’s all really happening. Over the past year, we’ve just been talking about it and figuring out the direction, experimenting with all new sounds and lyrically where I want to go. It’s always been a thing we’ve been talking about but now we’re sitting down and discussing about how things are going to happen. It’s all happening within the next month, too, which is bananas. I’m so so so excited for it.
