Amandla Stenberg To Star In Black Lives Matter Inspired Movie, 'The Hate U Give'

Amandla Stenberg is headed to the big screen in a adaption of The Hate U Give, which was inspired by Black Lives Matter.

The adaption is based on Angela Thomas‘ story and follows a 16-year-old girl named Starr who grew up in a poverty-stricken slum, but now attends a suburban prep school.

After she witnesses a police officer shoot her unarmed best friend, she’s torn between her two very different worlds as she tries to speak her truth.

Via THR, the adaption will be directed by George Tillman Jr. with the script by Audrey Wells.
