Shawn Mendes Says No One Can 'Fathom' The Success of 'Stitches'

Shawn Mendes gives an intimate performance for a packed crowd inside the Hammersmith Apollo in London, England on Thursday night (May 5).

The 17-year-old “Stitches” singer recently spoke to The Standard about the success of his hit song.

“I had no idea things would blow up like they did to be honest with you,” he shared. “When I put that first video up it was just out of boredom – I really had nothing to do and I was not expecting the reaction I got at all.”

Shawn added, “Something like [the success of] ‘Stitches’ is impossible to fathom, but that just changed everything. When you have a hit song the whole world of music changes for you. It was number one across the world – it hit every country like a rock and it was really, really surreal for me.”
