Skrillex Says He & Justin Bieber Didn't Steal 'Sorry' Riff (Video)
Skrillex is speaking out about the claim that he and Justin Bieber copied a riff from their hit song “Sorry” after being slapped with a copyright infringement lawsuit.
Siner Casey Dienel, who also goes by the stage name White Hinterland, says that the duo stole a riff she used in 2014 track, “Ring the Bell.”
Skrillex took to his Twitter to play the original track and show how the riff from “Sorry” was created out of writing session with singer-songwriter Julia Michaels.
“This is the original acapella from the writing sessions of ‘Sorry’ by Julia,” he explains before playing with her voice’s pitch from the recording.
Skrillex added in the caption, “SORRY but we didnt steal this???? @justinbieber @bloodpop.”
