Grace VanderWaal, the 12-year-old singer you were all amazed by on America’s Got Talent, is getting major recognition.
After her audition on the talent competition show aired this week on NBC, Grace spoke to Rolling Stone about what happened after.
“[The reaction] is very great but it gets kind of confusing,” Grace shared. “I used to sit alone at lunch with only Caroline, and now all these people are coming. I don’t know if they genuinely want to be my friend or they want to be the girl from America’s Got Talent‘s friend.”
Grace added about the song she sang, “I Don’t Know My Name”: “It’s about how I’ve gone through so many different phases and styles and friendships, and it’s about how now, I think that this is who I want to be and this is what I want my life path to be.”
After getting the golden buzzer from judge Howie Mandel, Grace will advance straight to the live shows.
