The 17-year-old singer took The Chainsmokers‘ new hit with Daya, “Don’t Let Me Down,” and mixed it up with the Live classic “Lightning Crashes.”

“I love the emotional lyrics of the song ‘Don’t Let Me Down,’ and it reminded me of an older song called ‘Lightning Crashes’ that is also really sentimental, so I thought to myself, ‘What would happen if I combine these two songs?’ and I did it!” AJ told JJJ.

Meanwhile, AJ is currently in the Top 5 of the Macy’s iHeart Radio Rising Star Competition! The winner will open the 2016 iHeart Radio Music Festival in Las Vegas this fall!
