'Finding Dory' Killed The Box Office; Sets Record With $136.2 Million Debut
Finding Dory dominated the weekend box office around the world, swimming into theaters and earning over $136.2M.
The film grabbed the all-time record debut for an animated film and the second best opening in June after 2015′s Jurassic World, Deadline reports.
The movie, which centers on a blue tang fish with short term memory loss (Ellen DeGeneres) and her quest to be reunited with her long-lost parents, also made a big splash overseas where it added another $50 million to its haul from 29 international markets, including Australia, Argentina, Russia, and China, where its $17.5 million debut ranks as the biggest ever for a Pixar release.
