Madison Pettis looks almost too hot to handle in these amazing new pics from photographer Glenn Nutley.
JJJ caught up with the 17-year-old actress and chatted about her return to The Fosters, heading off to NYU soon and any birthday plans she has.
“The last time the audience saw Daria, she and Connor (Gavin MacIntosh) broke up which was heartbreaking for her,” Madison told us. “Now you’ll see how the break up has affected her and her friendship with Taylor and Jude.”
She added, “This Season 4 premiere episode is a very significant and important one, because it deals with the tragic issue of gun violence which is sadly happening right now in our country. There is a school shooting and Daria is part of the frightening ordeal.”

JJJ: What do you think Daria has been up to during that time?
MP: I think Daria has probably been looking back on her relationship with Connor, re-playing every moment together in her mind and trying to figure out what signs she missed. She’s probably also wondering whether their break up was truly because of Connor’s feelings for Jude, or whether it was something she did. I think the whole thing was really hard on her self-esteem and gave her a lot to think about.
JJJ: Were/are you a Jonnor shipper, or do you think Jude moving on is the best thing?
MP: To play any character, I have to really get inside their head and their heart. So knowing how Daria felt about Connor, I can sympathize with her break up and relate to how she’s feeling and part of me is a little biased (laughs) and wanted Daria to be with Connor. But I’m also a huge fan of the show and I’ve watched it from the very beginning. So as a fan, I always wanted to see Jude and Connor be together without having to hide it. Connor and Jude had a very complicated relationship that didn’t always make them the happiest, so I hope this season Jude can find someone that makes him happy because he deserves it.
JJJ: What are you most excited about for the upcoming season?
MP: I think Daria is maturing a lot. In the past you’ve seen kind of a boy-crazy, self-absorbed side of her, but I think this season you’ll see how good of a friend she really is to Taylor and that she actually cares about Taylor’s best interests at heart. I’m excited to see her grow!
JJJ: What do you like best about being a part of The Fosters cast and show?
MP: Being a fan of the show even before I was cast in it, makes playing this role a dream come true! Getting to be on a TV show that you’ve loved watching is very special. The whole cast is so talented and really cool off screen, so working with actors that you respect and have fun with is the best experience!
JJJ: What do you think it is about the show that resonates with viewers?
MP: I think the show is just so honest and relatable. All the characters on the show are going through real life issues, and I love how the show doesn’t sugar coat anything. I think we love watching because the characters feel real and we become emotionally invested in them. Also, the issues the show tackles help people deal with problems that they’re struggling with themselves.
JJJ: Do you have any big plans for the summer before you head to college?
MP: I’m turning 18 next month and I’m very excited about that!
JJJ: Do you have any big plans for your 18th birthday?
MP: I don’t know what I want to do yet! Any suggestions? It’s definitely a big one so I want to do something special, but I don’t know exactly what that should be. Hmmm…
JJJ: Speaking of college. You were accepted to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. What do you plan on studying?
MP: I’m so honored and excited that I was accepted to NYU! It’s really a dream come true! However after giving it a lot of thought, I’ve actually decided to defer my first year to NYU to stay in LA and focus on my career. It will be the first time in my life that I can dedicate 100% of my time and energy to acting without having to juggle school at the same time. I’m proud that I went to a normal high school and graduated, but balancing school & work is very difficult. I’ve made a lot of sacrifices to do both. So to be able to just focus on one for awhile will be nice!
JJJ: Are you going to move to NYC permanently for the next few years? Are you excited/sad about that part?
MP: I won’t be living in NYC for at least the next year. I actually lived in NYC the summer of 2005 before I moved to LA and I loved it! It’s always been a goal of mine to return and live in NYC for at least part of my adult life. I love the energy-there’s really nothing like it! It’s so different than LA and I think a change of scenery would be really inspiring creatively. One day I’ll be living my Gossip Girl dream!
