Demi Lovato Sings 'Confident,' Speaks About Mental Illness at DNC (Video)
Demi Lovato belts out her song “Confident” while helping open the 2016 Democratic National Convention at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday (July 25) in Philadelphia, Penn.
The 23-year-old singer performed for the crowd after giving a speech about living with mental illness.
“Like millions of Americans, I am living with mental illness. But I am lucky. I had the resources and support to get treatment at a top facility,” Demi said. “Unfortunately, too many Americans from all walks of life don’t get help, whether they fear the stigma or cannot afford treatment.”
Demi told the crowd that she is proof that people can live happy lives with mental illness and urged politicians to give more people access to treatment.
“This is not about politics, its simply the right thing to do,” she said.
