OlderUSA Women's Gymnastics Team 2016 Announces Team Name: Final Five!
The “Final Five” has been selected as the official team name for the USA Women’s Gymnastics Team!
The ladies – Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian, and Aly Raisman – announced the name after their big win in the Artistic Gymnastics Women’s Team competition at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics on Tuesday (August 9) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
After the United States’ winning score was announced at the end of the competition, the ladies huddled together and chanted, “We are the Final Five!”
The girls decided to call themselves the Final Five, as Martha Karolyi, the coach and the national team coordinator for USA Gymnastics, is retiring this year and this is her final team.
