Ronen Rubinstein Interview
JJ: Did you go to camp as a kid or work at one? If so, how did it compare to working on the set of Dead of Summer?
RR: I went to JCC in New York a couple summers in a row when I was younger. The one time I went to a sleep away camp was when I was 15. That was the closest experience I had to Camp Stillwater in the way I met brand new people from all over the place and got to get away from home and friends. Obviously, nothing supernatural and crazy shit didn’t start happening with demons.
JJ: What’s been your favorite prop on set so far?
RR: I don’t have a specific favorite prop, but I tend to enjoy using food as a prop. For example the apple I used in one of the episodes.
JJ: What’s been the most memorable scene to shoot so far?
RR: I would have to say the most memorable scene was the seance in episode 6. It was the longest one scene shoot I have ever experienced. A full 15 hour day for one scene was nuts. The fact that every single visual effect was real, except for the fire, made the experience that much creepier and actually pretty damn terrifying.
JJ: Most fun off-screen moment with cast?
RR: Most fun off screen moment was being lucky enough to celebrate 4 of our cast members birthdays [Elizabeth Lail, Alberto Frezza, Mark Indelicato, Zelda Williams]. They all agree it was their best birthdays so far.
