'Queen of Katwe's Madina Nalwanga Premieres The Film at Toronto Film Festival 2016
Madina Nalwanga looks stunning in an ivory gown at the world premiere of Queen of Katwe during the 2016 Toronto Film Festival at Roy Thompson Hall on Saturday night (September 10) in Toronto, Canada.
The up-and-coming actress joined her co-stars David Oyelowo, Lupita Nyong’o, director Mira Nair as well as Phiona Mutesi and Robert Katende, who inspired the true-life story.
Queen of Katwe centers on Phiona, a young girl selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and, as a result of the support she receives from her family and community, is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.
