Lucy Hale Shares More Stories From Smile Train Trip

The 27-year-old actress just returned from her trip to Mexico City with Smile Train.

Lucy opened up to InStyle mag about the trip and what she learned from it all.

“He [Dr. Jose Maya] let me stand directly behind his shoulder and watch the surgery, and he explained everything that he was doing step-by-step. This man, he’s a plastic surgeon usually, but he donates his time to do these surgeries for free,” Lucy shared of witnessing one of the surgeries. “That’s what’s amazing, is that all the nurses, all the doctors that do this, they do this out of the greatness in their heart, because they’re not getting paid.”

She added, “It was just incredible to see this little boy’s face change over the course of 45 minutes. It was just something so special to be a part of, and we got to see the mom see her son for the first time after the surgery, which was just, you know, everyone was in tears. It was a really cool moment to be a part of.”
