Who went to see the Trolls movie as soon as it theaters? We did too and it was so adorable!
JJJ absolutely loved Meg DeAngelis‘ character Moxie and had to talk with her immediately after. In our interview, Meg opens up about Moxie, the moral of the movie, YouTube and more!
Trolls centers on Poppy, the happiest Troll ever born, and the overly-cautious, curmudgeonly Branch, who set off on a journey to rescue her friends after their village was attacked by the Bergens.

How did you get involved with the Trolls movie?
After having such an amazing experience voicing the character Rusty in the animated film The Giant King, when DreamWorks approached me with the role of Moxie in Trolls it was a no brainer to say yes! It is so fun to act as an animated character, especially as a Troll.
What do you think fans will think of the Trolls movie?
I hope they love it as much as I do! It’s definitely a feel good movie. The dynamic between the two main characters Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake), works really well because they’re total opposites, which ends up creating tons of funny moments along their journey to rescue the Trolls. Also, I think fans will love the music in the movie, because it sets the tone for each scene and it’s adorable seeing the characters dancing and singing along.

When you were younger, did you have any of the Trolls merchandise?
I actually did have a few of the original Trolls growing up and they’re definitely different from our characters in the movie. I like that Dreamworks’ Trolls characters have different skin tones to match their personalities, like Moxie is bright pink, which totally matches her bubbly persona.
If you were an actual troll, what would you look like?
I think Dreamworks’ animators captured my personality pretty well with Moxie’s look, but I might add a couple other features if she were a true MayBaby troll. She would have to have winged eyeliner (my signature look), and maybe pink skin and blue hair because those are my favorite colors.
Coming from YouTube and social media stardom, what advice would you give others who are just starting out there?
I truly believe that if you’re determined, you can do whatever you set your mind to. For starting a YouTube channel, I’d say it’s important to be consistent from the beginning. Start with a simple introduction video that shows viewers who you are, like, “10 things about me,” and work on developing content that plays up your personal interests from there. It’s important to always be true to yourself and highlight your uniqueness, because that’s what will make you stand out from the crowd.
Can you tease what’s next for you?
Other than developing new content for my channel :), I just wrapped filming on season 4 of Royal Crush for AwesomenessTV. This season follows my character Desi and her friends to Europe, which was super fun to film. I have also partnered with PBteen to raise funds for Teen Cancer America through my MayBaby collection. 25% of the retail price of the new MayBaby Beauty Mirror Storage and MayBaby Gold Hashtag Wall Décor will go to the fund.
You started off on YouTube making videos like “How To Make a Cheer Team” and those kind of videos. Do you ever miss making those versus the type you do now?
I’ve grown up so much on my channel over the years, every video is like a time capsule for my interests at the time. I’ve found so many other ways to connect with my viewers, so I don’t really miss the types of videos I used to make.
Thanksgiving is coming up. Do you have any traditions that you absolutely must do?
Since I’m half Canadian, half American, we usually just picked a random day in between both holidays to celebrate it, so besides that we make sure to always have cranberry pie!
