Eddie Redmayne is currently starring in the Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but he just revealed that he originally auditioned for a role in the Harry Potter franchise 15 years ago!
The 34-year-old actor told USA Today that he originally auditioned for the role of Tom Riddle. If you don’t know, Tom is actually Lord Voldemort and the name “Tom Riddle” is the name he was given at birth.
“I think I got about three lines into my audition, and it was with the assistant to the assistant,” Eddie told the publication. Eddie also recently dished on his failed Star Wars audition.
In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the role eventually went to actor Christian Coulson. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the role was played by Frank Dillane.
