Shawn Mendes Encouraged Hailee Steinfeld to Keep Pursuing Music

Hailee Steinfeld might not have pursued her singing career if it weren’t for Shawn Mendes!

In an interview with Fashion magazine, the 19-year-old actress and singer revealed that meeting Shawn several years ago inspired her to keep singing.

“I remember meeting him three years ago when I was just dipping my toes into the whole music thing and he inspired me to stay on,” she explained. “He’s so kind, [and] even then, I knew he was going to be a big star.”

Hailee also added that having a supportive squad is so important, saying, “Banding together�whether it’s a group of women or a group of men or both�is awesome.”
