Ed Sheeran Performs 'Supermarket Flowers' For First Time & It Will Have You in Tears

The musician played the song, off of his new album Divide, for the first time live on BBC’s The One Show.

“[It was] Really hard to write, yeah. Very easy at the same time in terms of its flow,” Ed revealed about writing the track dedicated to his grandmother, who passed away. “Because there was no trying to think of poignant lines and being like you know death is this or like life is this.”

He adds, “It was just so spot on and the lyric of ‘you are an angel in the shape of my mom’, that could end upping a poignant line but it was the truth.”

ICYMI, Ed also wrote a song about his other grandmother, Nancy Mulligan.
