Rupert Grint will always be Ron Weasley…even when another actor portrays him onstage.
In a new interview with EW while promoting his new series, Snatch, Rupert opened up about seeing actor Paul Thornley play Ron when he went to see the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Londonâs West End last year.
“I wasnât really prepared for it,â he shared. âIt hit me quite hard. It was kind of like an out of body experience. Youâre seeing someone else take on a character that youâve known for so long.”
Rupert adds, “I kind of grew up with Ron. I do feel like a lot of me is in that character. I have a weird relationship with Ron, where itâs kind of basically me. And seeing it live on is very surreal.”
However, he still loved the show.
“Itâs an amazing show. I actually loved it. It blows your mind to see this magic world on stage live in front of you. Itâs amazing. It just shows how clever J.K. (Rowling) is to be reinventing it and making it live on in something different. Itâs amazing.â
