Disney won’t be releasing Coco until next year — which is a really long time — but to hold us over, they just released a super cute short film for the new movie!
Called Dante’s Lunch, the short film follows Miguel’s dog, named Dante, all over town, as he tries to get and keep his bone that he found — only to find out, it belongs to a skeleton!
What kind of dog is Dante, you ask? He’s a Xolo, an ancient breed and national dog of Mexico, which also “figures very prominently in Aztec legends about the afterlife.”
“It was said that in order to make the journey through the afterlife, you needed to have one of these Xolo dogs with you,” the director, Lee Unkrich, says.
