'13 Reasons Why' Cast & Creators Open Up About Hannah's Death Scene

By now, we’ve all watched 13 Reasons Why and proceeded to break down over the power of the Netflix show.

Now, the cast and creators behind the series and novel are opening up about Hannah’s death scene, and the importance of talking with someone (anyone) about suicide.

“We had a number of people ask us along the way why we had Hannah kill herself in the way we did and why we showed it,” showrunner Bryan Yorkey shared.

“We worked very hard not to be gratuitous but we did want it to be painful to watch because we wanted to be very clear that there is nothing in any way worthwhile about suicide.”
