Willow Smith is Producing Two Female-Centered YA Projects

Willow Smith is going all in on girl power.

The phenomenal 16-year-old singer, artist and actress (and sister to Jaden Smith) has just bought the rights (via her production company MSFTS Production), along with Cartel Entertainment, to two female-driven projects.

They are Alwyn Hamilton’s YA trilogy Rebel Of The Sands and Menencholy, an animated series based on Smith’s original book proposal, according to Deadline.com.

Though her acting credits are minimal, Rebel of the Sands could be the set up to her big-screen debut.

Based on the novel by Alwyn Hamilton, the story follows 17-year-old Amani, who can’t wait to escape her desert town. Expected to end up “wed or dead,” Amani hopes her sharpshooting skills will be her ticket out.

She never expected to hop on a mythical horse, become a fugitive wanted for treason… or fall in love.

Excited to see how Willow adapts the story, how about you?
