Bea Miller Talks About Growing Up With Moms Who Fought All the Time

Bea Miller looks super chill in this new feature for NKD magazine.

The 18-year-old singer got candid with the glossy about her music and how she was influenced by experiences in her life. Check it:

On her childhood and finding music: “My siblings and I were forced to live in a house with two parents that hated each other, and were constantly fighting with each other. I woke up one morning, and I was like, “I feel like I could do something to help this situation and make it better.” I didn’t really know what it was, at that point, but I started getting really into singing, and I was making music videos, just in my room, and I was starting to learn guitar.

On growing as an artist: I became more comfortable with myself and my feelings and my thoughts, and I became more obsessed with the idea that when you share something that isn’t necessarily awesome in your life, that’s kind of embarrassing to share, it actually helps other people. A lot of other people are experiencing the same things and they don’t want to talk about it. If one person talks about it, it helps everybody.

On what she wants to tell her fans through music: I just wanted somebody to say, “Life is great, but sometimes it really sucks, and that’s the truth.” But I never had that, and that’s why my relationship with my fans is really powerful, and anytime they say anything about my lyrics being meaningful to them is really special.
