Simone Biles Dishes On Judges' Wants on 'DWTS': 'You Almost Have to Read Their Minds' On What They Want To See
Simone Biles absolutely owned the show on Monday night’s Dancing With The Stars, with just one comment.
After getting a harsh criticism from judge Carrie Ann Inaba after her first dance about how she is always smiling and happy and the judge felt like the audience didn’t know the real her, Simone came back with a strong trio dance.
However, she wasn’t smiling when the judges came back with critiques on the dance, and not because they were bad. She just didn’t feel like smiling, and she didn’t have to.
“Smiles don’t win gold medals,” she simply stated, when host Tom Bergeron asked her. A total win for her and many of her fans.
Later on, Simone opened up about the show and how she handled it all.
“I feel like everyone has their own opinion, clearly, and I feel it’s just how you take it,” she says about how she is doing her best to convey real emotion. “I feel like I am trying, I am being honest, but if they don’t see that, I don’t know what more I can do.”

“You don’t know which wild card of sexy or of happy they want to bring, and you almost have to read their minds and find it,” Simone added about what the judges want to see each week, and sometimes it’s hard to call.
How did Simone deal with the criticism? “I had tears in my eyes,” she recalled. “I almost ran to the bathroom at one point, but I pulled it together.”
