Liam Payne Explains That One Direction Lyric in New Single 'Strip That Down'

By now, we’ve all heard Liam Payne‘s brand new single, “Strip That Down”, and have probably dissected the One Direction lyric more than we would like to admit.

The singer opened up in an interview with Elvis Duran about that lyric and explains it all.

“The new things I’m learning, I’ve gotten to write with some of the most amazing people. I’ve got to go into the studio with Ed Sheeran, Pharrell, there’s something we have pending, but going out and listening to the music universe and the music community around us, and getting to work with such great names like that, and then people producing like Steve Mac and people like that for me, which has been amazing.”

“That’s been the best part of it for me just getting to go out and explore,” he shares.

Liam adds, “That’s when I said the line in the song, ‘1D now I’m out free,’ just means free to musically go about.”

“I’ve always been into writing. I wrote a lot of stuff for us 1D boys and I did writing for some artists as well,” he says further. “It’s been nice now that we can all go out on our own musical journeys and enjoy ourselves so it’s been a blast, it’s been a lot of fun!”
