Camila Cabello Explains The Story Behind 'I Have Questions' & We Can All Relate

Camila Cabello is opening up about her new music.

The 20-year-old former Fifth Harmony member called into Elvis Duran and The Morning Show after her Billboard Music Awards performance and here’s what she had to share:

On being a solo artist: “I’m so good, I’m so happy. I’m having the best time. I gave everything that I had to give on stage last night, so I feel really good about that. I’ve been having a lot of fun, obviously, it’s been emotional for me and it’s like a really intense experience to put your firsts songs out there for the first time. I’m overwhelmed in the best possible way.”

On writing her new album: “I feel like I was going through a tough time for a while emotionally and that I was just kind of lost. I feel like throughout the writing process and especially throughout the last few months I really mean it that I found myself again and I found light again. The whole point of this album and what it taught me is that life has its’ seasons and you’re not always going to be great and super happy and when you’re down it’s not going to stay that way.”

On the inspiration behind “I Have Questions”: “I started writing it two years ago in a hotel bathroom, it was during my rocky point. I stopped writing for six months because I couldn’t really deal with the emotions that I was going through. Then I ran into the person who inspired the song, and the day after I had a session, that’s when the song got finished. I used it as an opportunity, if I could talk to this person what exactly would I tell them? I went through a situation where, I feel like a lot of people have where you’re in this relationship or friendship and you’re just kind of left with all of these questions about why things went wrong. Life happens and then you don’t really get the opportunity to really talk it out with that person.”
