Demi Lovato Responds to "No Promises" Video Hair Drama After Online Backlash

Demi Lovato Responds to

The video for Demi Lovato‘s new song “No Promises” with Cheat Codes dropped last week, and fans are having an issue.

Twitter quickly got vocal about Demi‘s hairstyle in the video, calling it “dreadlocks.”

A number of her followers began to call the 24-year-old singer out for cultural appropriation, arguing that wearing dreadlocks is inappropriate and offensive, and calling attention to the last time she came under fire for tweeting that she is one percent African.

Demi took to Twitter today to respond to the drama.

“They were twists not dreads,” she tweeted with an emoji rolling it’s eyes, and added the hashtag “relax.”

She then expanded on the look, saying: “Btw, they looked f-king rad anyway,” with the sunglasses emoji.

She then announced that she knows what she wants her first single to be — and “ironically” it’s for her “haters.”

Watch the video here and let us know what you think. Are they twists or dreads? And are either OK?
